The tests for the resistance of the fast transportation means to collisions with small objects

Abstract

The article presents the mechatronic testing system for determination of the resistance of the fast transportation means to the collisions with bodies moving on the collision trajectory. The system is intended for experimental testing that allows for simulation and recreation of the phenomena of collision of the aircraft, or other fast transportation mean with birds (bird test), and other objects of similar mass and geometry properties. The method of testing assumes throwing of the rigid body with proper velocity towards the tested aircraft or automotive structure. The solution allows throwing, with use of compressed air, cartridges of full-calibre or sub-calibre dimension located in the special sabot.
